How it all started • Brain Juice
Five years ago I (Gordon Brown) get a phone call from an old colleague who works in a legal firm. He is looking for a presentation to fulfill their on going commitment to continuous professional development. Knowing my marketing credentials he asks if I’ll do an hour on Marketing Planning.
I consider the reaction of a group of lawyers, after a long day at the office, if I launch into the importance of understanding your brand, brand equity, brand hierarchies etc and think I might be on to a loser.
I pop up to see him and say why don’t I do a presentation on innovation (lawyers never think they are innovative – even though some are brilliant at it).
The night goes well – so well that they ask for more and Brain Juice is born.
Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie take the plunge and I deliver a course over three mornings to the majority of their legal staff.
Where it has gone from there:
Since then we have worked on a range of bespoke training courses and strategic facilitation for a range of customers:
- We’ve worked with the BBC on sports programming.
- We helped the BIG Partnership look at a fresh approach to their thinking on PR.
- 999 Design brought us in to give them a new slant on creativity (given their already impressive creative credentials this was a big endorsement for us) and also asked us to include (within the training) a view from a former client on what a client is looking for from a creative services agency.
- Clyde Process Solutions were kind enough to let us facilitate their global conference in Barcelona and impart some of the wisdom of Brain Juice along the way.
- The Scottish FA used us to 'Brain juice' their Youth Strategy Day.
- We squeezed the Glenmorangie marketing team.
- East Renfrewshire Council brought us in to help small and start up businesses look at how they might stand out from the crowd.
